Motion Brand Guidelines for Manchester's City Tower Development. A landmark 1960's building in Piccadilly Gardens providing mixed-used office space.

The rebrand, commissioned by Schroders Capital on behalf of OBI, where I was working at the time, aimed to revive the landmark Manchester building to provide iconic workplaces and views across the city.

The building's new motto ‘Backing the bold’, is embodied by the rebrand through a bespoke typeface and 60's-inspired colour palette. The building's circuit board-esque façade is also reflected in the branding, along with it's blocky grid-like structure.

Challenge

Bringing a mid-Century Icon into the 21st Century

The rebrand for City Tower was informed by the building's 1960s heritage and seamless inregration into Manchester's high-end mixed use workspace offering. Animation and brand presentation needed to look confident and restrained, letting brand photography do the bulk of communication on who it's Target Audience is.

Results

A Vibrant workspace with an active Community

City Tower's brand is instantly-recognisable when walking into the building itself, or when using the City Tower app as a service user. The Motion Brand Guidelines help inform choices made when creating Films, Social Content and Web Elements to keep the City Tower brand cohesive and relatable to it's Target Audience.
